Build out the floor plan

Build a floor plan by scanning a floor plan photo with AI, tracing a reference photo, or starting with a blank canvas. Draw walls to generate rooms automatically, and save the plan as you work.

Open the floor plan editor

  1. Open the location and select Structures.
  2. Select the structure, then select the floor you want to build.
  3. Switch the plan from View to Edit.

Start with an AI floor scan

Use an AI floor scan when you have a photo of a drawn floor plan and want to create its rooms without drawing each room manually.

  1. Open a floor that has no rooms and no photo.
  2. When asked Do you have a photo of the floor plan?, select I have a floorplan photo.
  3. Select the image.
  4. In Clean up the photo, straighten and crop the image, then select Use photo.
  5. Drag the uploaded photo into position and select Done adjusting.
  6. Wait while the scan runs. An Analysing photo… overlay blocks the editor during the scan.
  7. Review the detected room outlines and the room count in the review bar.
  8. Select Confirm & Save to add the detected rooms and save the floor plan.

Confirm & Save adds the detected rooms and publishes the plan in one action. Rename or reshape the rooms after saving if needed. Selecting Discard removes the detected outlines. To scan again, replace the photo.

About AI scan results

  • The scan detects rooms only. It does not create equipment.
  • If the image is not a floor plan drawing, no rooms are created. Upload a floor plan drawing and try again.
  • Without the AI features entitlement, the photo is added as a tracing reference and no scan is requested.

Trace a reference photo

Use a photo as a guide when you want to draw the floor plan yourself. On a floor with no rooms and no photo, select I have a floorplan photo, choose and clean up the image, position it, and select Done adjusting. If AI scanning is unavailable, the photo remains as a plain tracing reference.

  1. With the reference photo positioned, switch to Edit.
  2. Draw the walls over the reference photo.
  3. Use the snapping behavior while drawing so connected walls align.
  4. Review the rooms generated automatically from the walls.
  5. Save the floor plan.

Start with a blank floor plan

  1. Open the floor plan editor and switch from View to Edit.
  2. Draw the walls for the floor without adding a photo.
  3. Connect the walls using snapping. Rooms are generated automatically from the enclosed areas.
  4. Review the generated rooms.
  5. Save the floor plan.

Save while you work

The editor autosaves while you work. Save the floor plan to publish newly created rooms. A newly drawn room does not take equipment until the floor plan has been saved.

Replace a photo on a floor that already has rooms

A floor that already has rooms is not scanned automatically when you add a photo. The app offers two choices:

  • Keep rooms, swap photo changes only the reference picture.
  • Start over permanently deletes every room and asset on the floor and cancels open jobs for those assets before scanning the new photo. This action requires permission to delete both rooms and assets.
