Add assets from a template

This article explains how to add one or more assets to a floor plan and place them between or underneath other assets. It is intended for users populating a floor with equipment.

Before You Get Started

  • Make sure the floor plan contains the room where you want to add the asset.
  • If you have just drawn a new room, save the floor plan before adding assets. New rooms cannot receive equipment until the floor plan is saved.

Add assets to a floor plan

  1. Open the floor plan.
  2. Switch the mode toggle to Assets.
  3. Select Add asset at the right end of the toolbar. The Add asset panel opens.
  4. Find an asset type using the search button, category tabs, or the Most recent strip. The panel also includes All types. This list is hidden when you use search or select a category.
  5. Select the room where you want to place the asset.
  6. Click an asset type to place it in the room, or drag the asset type to the exact position on the floor plan. Drag the type when its position matters, such as when placing it between or underneath other assets.
  7. Repeat the previous step to add more asset types. The Add asset panel stays open while you add assets.
  8. Select Save on the Unsaved changes bar at the bottom of the canvas.

Each placement shows Asset placed. Assets remain drafts until you select Save.

Important placement details

  • You must select a room before placing an asset. If no room is selected, the app shows Please select a room first.
  • Clicking an asset type places the marker around the middle of the room. Its position is offset based on the assets already in that room, so it can cover another marker. Drag the type when you need an exact position.
  • Only asset types available to your organisation are shown. If none are available, the panel shows No asset types available.
  • If you do not want to keep the changes, select Discard on the Unsaved changes bar and confirm. This removes every unsaved change.
