Add multiple assets

This article explains how to add multiple assets at once in the BriqSafe web floor plan by using copy and paste. It is intended for engineers who want to quickly populate a floor with several identical assets without entering each one individually.

Add Multiple Assets by Copying and Pasting

You can duplicate one or more assets on the floor plan by copying them and pasting them as staged markers. This lets you add several instances of the same asset quickly and place them where needed before confirming.

1. Switch the floor plan to Assets mode.
2. Select the asset you want to copy by clicking it on the floor plan.
3. Press the toolbar's Copy selected asset to clipboard button.
4. Select the room where the copies belong.
5. Click the Paste button.
6. In the staged-paste panel that appears, enter the Number of copies you want to place.
7. The copies appear as dashed, pending markers on the floor plan.
8. Position the copies as needed by dragging them.
9. When satisfied, click Confirm & Save to add the copies permanently and save the floor plan.
10. Alternatively, click Discard to cancel the whole batch; this removes all staged copies without saving.

Important: While staged, the pasted copies are not yet part of the floor plan and do not appear in the Assets list. The floor plan cannot be saved until you confirm or discard the batch.

What Is and Is Not Copied

When duplicating assets via copy and paste, the following applies:

• The asset's core definition, such as asset type and basic configuration, is copied.
• Recorded measurements, such as saved parameter readings, do not transfer to the copied assets; copies arrive without recorded readings.
• System links, technical recommendations, and configuration data are copied on a best-effort basis. If some system links or configurations fail to copy, a warning appears after confirmation, and the missing details must be added manually on the copies.
• Asset names are automatically updated on copies: names ending in numbers increment the number (e.g., "101" becomes "102"), and other names gain a "Copy" suffix with numbering starting from the second copy.

Additional Notes

• Pasting remains disabled until a room is selected; the paste button will prompt "Select a room to paste into" if no room is chosen.
• Discarding the batch removes all copied assets from the staging area and cancels the copy action entirely.
• Confirming and saving adds all pasted assets in one step and immediately saves the floor plan.
• Dragging the copies after pasting lets you place them precisely where needed, including offsetting assets to avoid overlap.
• The clipboard data is stored locally in your browser and expires after 24 hours; attempts to paste after expiration will fail.

This method provides a fast way to repeat assets multiple times within a room, for example when a row or group of identical equipment is present. It is distinct from copying entire rooms, which involves different controls and processes.
