Use this article to change the billing tier for a structure and understand when the change takes effect, how monthly and annual terms are re-priced, and how each tier's asset limit applies.
NoteRequired role: Owner
Change a structure's billing tier
- Open Billing and select Structures.
- Select the structure's Billing Tier.
- Choose the new tier.
- Confirm the change in the Change Billing Tier? dialog.
You can also change a structure's tier from a location:
- Go to Locations and open a location.
- Open Billing.
- In the structure list, select a new tier in the structure's Billing Tier field.
- Confirm the change.
Understand the change
- An upgrade takes effect immediately.
- A downgrade is normally scheduled for the end of the current billing term. The current tier and its features remain active until then. The Billing Tier dropdown continues to show the current tier and displays a notice about the scheduled change.
- A change to a tier with an asset limit below the structure's current asset count is refused. Remove assets before selecting that tier.
- Each billing tier has its own asset limit for the structure.
- Switching between monthly and annual billing re-prices the subscriptions and re-terms every subscription. The billing interval is organisation-wide, not specific to one location.
- Tiers belong to structures, not locations. Structures at the same location can use different tiers.
- Features checked for the whole location remain available while at least one structure at that location is entitled to them.
Access and permissions
- Only the Owner can change a structure's billing tier.
- An Admin can open the billing tab, but the Billing Tier dropdown is disabled.
- The billing tab is listed for everyone who can open a location. For a Manager or below, the page is blank and shows no data.
