Connect a probe

This article explains how to connect a temperature probe (Bluetooth thermometer) to the BriqSafe app on your phone or tablet for recording temperature measurements during a visit.

Connecting a Bluetooth Thermometer for Temperature Measurement

Use a Bluetooth thermometer to record water temperature readings during a flushing job directly in the app.

1. Open the relevant temperature job in the visit.
2. Tap Connect Thermometer to pair your Bluetooth thermometer with the app.
3. Once connected, tap Start Measurement and run the outlet as required.
4. The live reading will stream and automatically stop when the temperature stabilises.
5. Repeat the measurement for each required reading at different outlets as needed.
6. If the job requires, attach an evidence photo to support your measurement.
7. Finally, tap Complete Job to save the reading.

Notes:

• The app does not show pass or fail status on the form; threshold breaches are evaluated after the visit and may raise a case.
• If the thermometer drops out of range, readings already taken are kept; you can reconnect or switch to manual entry.
• If no stop conditions are defined for the activity, default measurement settings apply (a 2-minute timeout or manual reading).

Manually Entering Temperature Readings

If a Bluetooth thermometer is unavailable or disconnects, you can enter temperature readings manually.

1. Open the temperature job.
2. Tap Fill Temperature Manually.
3. Enter the temperature readings in the provided fields.
4. Attach an evidence photo if required.
5. Tap Complete Job when finished.

Performing Temperature (Flushing) Jobs Offline

The BriqSafe app supports working offline when signal is unavailable on-site (such as in basements or plant rooms).

1. Open the visit while online so its data caches locally.
2. Once offline, the app shows an offline indicator but continues to work normally.
3. Bluetooth thermometer pairing and temperature measurement continue device-to-device without connectivity.
4. Data entries, photos, and status changes queue locally and upload automatically when the connection returns.

Important: Open the visit while online to ensure full data is cached. Avoid opening visits offline as this may cause incomplete cached data.

Additional Notes on Temperature Monitoring Devices

When placing continuous temperature monitoring devices (probes) rather than using a Bluetooth thermometer, the process involves different steps to register and link devices to assets, not covered in this article.
