This article explains how to add a new compliance activity to a location's control scheme in BriqSafe. It covers defining the activity's type, selecting its scope, setting its frequency, and saving the activity for scheduling. This is intended for inspectors managing control schemes.
NoteRequired role: Inspector
Add a Compliance Activity to a Control Scheme
Follow these steps to add an activity that the rules engine has not generated automatically, allowing you to cover compliance needs outside the default scheme.
- Open the location and go to the Control Schema tab.
- Click Add activity.
- Choose the Activity type from the full list of activity types your organisation has.
- Under Applies to, select Select locations or assets to specify the scope. Tick one or more of the following depending on what the activity covers: Structures, Areas, Systems, or Assets. Each selection creates its own activity entry.
- Set the Frequency of the activity using the fixed picker. This frequency can be as often as twice per day, or as rare as once every ten years. The frequency you pick will update the 12-month job estimate accordingly.
- Click Save. The new activity is saved in the To do status and is ready for scheduling.
Note: If you tick different entity kinds (like a mix of areas and assets) in the same pass, the frequency estimate will not show. Also, if your chosen scope matches no structure, area, system, or asset, no jobs will be generated in the next 12 months and the estimate will remain zero. Activities with very rare frequencies (such as once every three years) on a single entity will generate future jobs beyond the 12-month estimate.
Adjust Activity Frequency
You can change how often an activity recurs if the location needs a different recurrence than the compliance rule sets.
- Open the location's Control Schema.
- Find and select the Activity type and then pick the specific activity you want to change.
- Choose a new Frequency from the fixed picker (options range from twice per day to once every ten years).
- Click Save.
Important: Changing the frequency on a rule-created activity turns it into a custom activity that keeps your new setting. You can also restore the original rule frequency by selecting Restore rule frequency. Be aware that selecting a frequency less frequent than the compliance rule's requirement is allowed and only warned about; nothing prevents saving a frequency below legal minimums. Saving a frequency already used by another activity of the same type on the same object is rejected as a duplicate.
Additional Information
The rules engine normally manages the control scheme automatically by creating or deleting activities when structures, areas, assets, systems, or control regimes are added, updated, or removed. Manual additions via Add activity let you cover gaps the engine cannot handle.
Activities added manually can be deleted if no longer needed by opening the activity and selecting Delete. Activities automatically generated by compliance rules cannot be deleted but can be disabled by switching off Activity enabled.
