Copy a room and its assets to another floor without rebuilding them manually. The copied rooms remain staged until you confirm the batch, and you can discard the entire batch before anything is saved.
NoteRequired role: Engineer
Before You Get Started
- The source room must have an outline on the floor plan. A room without an outline cannot be placed.
- The clipboard is held in your browser for 24 hours after you copy the room. A paste after this time reports that the clipboard has expired.
- A copy operation containing more than 100 items or larger than 5 MB is refused.
Copy a room to another floor
- Open the location's Structures tab and select the floor that contains the room.
- Switch the floor plan to Edit.
- Select the room to copy. Hold Shift to add more rooms to the selection.
- Press the copy control. For one room, its tooltip reads Copy selected room with all assets. A message confirms that the room is on the clipboard.
- Open the floor where the copies belong and press Paste.
- In the staging bar, set Number of copies.
- Open What gets copied and switch the following options on or off as needed:
- Assets
- System links (circuit assignment)
- Configuration (material, type, capacity)
- Technical recommendations
- Photos
- Press Confirm & Save.
The copies first appear as staged outlines. Confirm & Save converts them into ordinary rooms and saves the floor plan in the same action. There is no separate Save action afterwards.
Review or discard staged copies
Staged copies are not rooms yet. The staging bar shows how many copies are staged and that they are not saved.
- Press Discard to remove the whole staged batch before anything is written.
- While the batch is staged, the staging bar replaces the floor plan's Unsaved changes bar. The floor plan's normal Save action is unavailable until you confirm or discard the copies.
What is copied
The items copied depend on the selections in What gets copied. System links are copied only when System links (circuit assignment) is enabled and the system belongs to the same structure. A system belonging to a different structure is not linked to the copied room.
Recorded measurements are never copied. They describe readings taken from the original equipment, so readings must be taken on the equipment in each new room. Photos can be copied when Photos is enabled, but a copied photo is not evidence of the asset it lands on.
Placement and naming
- Copies are placed in free space rather than on top of the original.
- If a room name ends in a number, the number increases. For example, Room 101 becomes Room 102.
- When several rooms are copied and one has no outline on the floor plan, that room is skipped and the remaining rooms are still placed.
