Temperature measurement

This article explains how temperature measurement jobs are set up in a visit and how engineers record readings with a Bluetooth thermometer or by hand.

Set up a temperature measurement job

The form and measurement parameters come from the job's activity type.

1. Open the job from the visit's job list.
2. Use the Actions tab. It contains the form for the activity type, including the temperature measurement parameters.

The activity type is set when the job is scheduled from the control scheme. If the job is added by hand, the activity type is selected under Select Activity Type. You cannot choose a different activity type from the job screen.

Perform a temperature measurement job

1. Open the temperature measurement job and stay on the Actions tab.
2. For a Bluetooth thermometer, tap Connect and pair the thermometer. When it is connected, tap Start Temperature Measurement.
3. If the parameter allows manual entry, tap Enter manually and type the reading.
4. Repeat the measurement for each outstanding parameter.
5. Tap Done to return to the job.
6. Add an evidence photo if the form asks for one.
7. Tap Complete Job.

For a Bluetooth measurement, the live reading streams until the activity's stop conditions are met. If no stop conditions are defined, the reading stops when it holds steady for ten seconds or when the two-minute timeout is reached, whichever comes first.

Understand measurement results and cases

• The form does not show a pass or fail indicator. A reading that breaches a threshold does not prevent the job from completing.
• When the job is submitted online, each measurement is checked against the compliance risk rules. If a breach requires escalation, the app shows Job completed. A case was created for review. If a case for the same rule is already open, it shows Job completed. A case is already open for this issue.
• If the job is completed offline, the app shows Job completed. Will sync when connected. Readings queued offline are checked only after they sync, so no case message appears at completion.

Work offline

The visit list, job list, job form, thermometer pairing, and photo capture continue to work without a connection. Readings and job status changes are saved on the device and sync when the connection returns.

• Photos are added to the upload queue and upload when you reconnect. Let the queue finish before leaving.
• If a thermometer disconnects during a measurement, all readings for that parameter are discarded. Reconnect the thermometer and measure that parameter again.
• Without a connection, the Location jobs page reached from a structure card's overdue count shows Not Available Offline.

Find temperature jobs in a visit

1. Open the job list.
2. Tap the filter icon to open Filters.
3. Use Activity type to narrow the list to the required activity.
4. Use Status to filter by Open, Completed, Overdue, Skipped, Not performed, or Building closed.
5. Tap Apply, or tap Clear all to remove the filters.

You can also tap the search icon and enter a job name in Search jobs.... Not performed and Building closed are set by the system and cannot be selected by a field worker.

Finish the visit

1. Finish or skip the jobs.
2. From the job list, tap Close Visit.
3. On the Sign Off tab, check the counts for Completed jobs, Unable to complete, and Not completed.
4. Draw the worker signature or select the confirmation box.
5. Tap Close Visit.

Signing off locks the visit on the worker's device, so its jobs can no longer be edited there. If no job was completed, the visit is recorded as Skipped instead of Completed.
