View the site timeline

This article explains how to view the site timeline for a Location in BriqSafe. It is intended for users who need to audit or review the chronological history of activity at a Location, including changes to Areas and Assets as well as Jobs performed there.

Note

Required role: All roles can access the Timeline, with some areas requiring additional permissions for related actions.

Viewing the Site Timeline for a Location

The Timeline provides a chronological feed of events related to changes and activities within a Location. It consolidates updates on Areas, Assets, and Jobs as a single timeline separate from the compliance Logbook.

1. Open a Location from the Locations list.
2. Select the Timeline tab, also called Site Timeline.
3. Review events grouped under date headings, ordered newest first. The interface shows a running count of loaded events.
4. Use the Category picker to narrow visible events. Note that only the categories Asset, Area, and Job return events here; other categories remain empty in this view.
5. Optionally filter by Start Date and End Date to see events in a specific time range.
6. Expand the list by clicking Load More to page back and view older events.
7. Select an event row to view details including Performed by, Affected Items, Additional Details, and the Event ID. Use the previous/next arrows to navigate between events.

Important: The Timeline cannot be exported. For a PDF-ready compliance event record, use the Location's Logbook tab instead.

Understanding the Site Timeline Content

The Timeline aggregates events related to:

• Creation, updates, or deletion of Areas and Assets within the Location.
• Assignment or removal of Assets to Systems.
• Changes to an Asset's control scheme.
• Jobs performed at the Location.

Events are system-generated to record changes, not notes or manual entries.

Accessing Other Entity Timelines

Area Timeline

To review changes to a specific Area:

1. Go to the Structure's Area list.
2. Open the row actions menu on the desired Area.
3. Choose Timeline.
4. A dialog titled "Area Timeline" opens, showing the Area’s events newest-first.
5. Use the Category, Start Date, and End Date filters as needed, and page with Load More.

Note: The Area Timeline is an in-place dialog with no per-event detail view, and cannot be bookmarked or shared.

Structure Activity History

To audit changes to a single Structure:

1. Open the Structure's actions menu.
2. Select Timeline.
3. The page lists Structure creation, updates, and deletions newest-first with filtering and pagination.

Note: Structure events appear only here and not on the Location Timeline. These events have no detail view.

Common Pitfalls and Tips

• The Timeline only shows Asset, Area, and Job categories — categories like Site, Structure, User, Client, Incident, and Sensor appear empty here.
• The Timeline is read-only and system-generated; events cannot be created, edited, or deleted manually.
• Because filtering applies to whole categories, you cannot isolate a single specific action within a category from the Timeline.
• The Timeline does not have an export option; use the Logbook tab for compliance reports in PDF.
• When viewing the Asset Activity History within an Asset, remember it fetches events only when expanded, shows no creation event, and its rows are not selectable, so the Location Timeline is preferred for full detail.
