Tablet requirements

This article outlines the minimum and recommended device specifications for running the BriqSafe mobile app on tablets. It is intended for users who want to verify their tablet meets the necessary requirements for an optimal experience.

Note

Required role: All

Tablet Compatibility and Interface Layout

The BriqSafe mobile app supports tablet devices with a dedicated interface that adjusts some elements compared to smaller mobile screens.

  • When you open the app or tap the My BriqSafe tab, you land on the mobile home screen. On tablets, the Jump back in and Latest Reports sections sit side by side above My Locations, differing from the stacked order on phones.
  • The section order is fixed and cannot be rearranged. Some sections hide when no data is available rather than showing an empty state.
  • All other features on the home screen, such as refresh by pull-down gesture, behave consistently on tablets.

Functionality Considerations for Tablets

The app's core features continue to function on tablets with some important notes related to connectivity and usage:

  • Native features such as job lists, job forms, thermometer pairing, flushing timers, and photo capture work offline on tablets just as on phones. Readings, photos, and status updates queue on the device and upload once connectivity is restored.
  • Embedded web pages accessed within the app require an active connection. For example, the Location jobs page is unavailable offline and displays a "Not Available Offline" message; plan to complete these tasks while connected.

Biometric Security on Tablets

Tablets support biometric app-lock options to secure the app without re-entering credentials repeatedly.

  1. Tap the BriqSafe logo button to open the menu (positioned in the sidebar on tablets).
  2. Select Biometrics.
  3. Turn on the biometric toggle, which may be labeled Use Face ID, Use Touch ID, or Use Biometrics based on the device capabilities.
  4. Complete the biometric check prompted by your device.
  5. Optionally, set the Lock Timeout to 1, 2, 5, or 15 minutes for auto-locking.

Note: Biometric features require that your tablet has Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint enrolled in the device settings. If not enrolled, the app will show a "Not Available" notice.

Quick Actions on Tablets

The My Quick Actions section on the home screen includes a shortcut to open the QR scanner directly, a useful feature for quickly identifying assets or devices on-site.

  1. Locate the My Quick Actions section on the home screen.
  2. Tap Scan QR to open the QR code scanner.

Note: The Create Job quick action appears only if your user role includes permission to create visits.

Summary

To run BriqSafe smoothly on a tablet, use a device equipped with biometric authentication options if you want to enable app-lock. Offline capabilities and the optimized tablet home screen provide an efficient workflow, but ensure network connectivity for embedded web pages and Location jobs pages. The app adapts its layout to tablet screens, providing side-by-side sections where appropriate.
