Add a QR code

Use this article to add a scannable QR code to an asset and open the correct asset record from the mobile app.

Add a QR code when creating an asset on the web

Enter the value from the printed QR label while adding the asset.

1. Open a location's Assets list.
2. Select Add asset.
3. Enter the printed value in the drawer's QR code field.
4. Save the asset.

Set or change a QR code in the mobile app

1. Open the asset.
2. Open Asset QR Code.
3. Select Scan to use the camera, or Enter to type the value.
4. Save the asset.

Setting a new code replaces the asset's previous code. The previous code then stops opening that asset.

Scan a QR code to find an asset

1. On the mobile home screen, tap Scan QR.
2. Point the camera at the asset's label.
3. When the code is read, tap the card showing the scanned value at the top of the camera view.

The asset opens on its Information tab when a match is found. If there is no match, the app shows No assets found for this QR code.

Important details

• A QR code must be unique among the live assets at the same location. Reusing a code is rejected when you save it.
• The web QR Code box on the asset details screen is a note only. It does not change the code that a scan resolves or the QR code column. Set the scannable code when adding the asset on the web or through Asset QR Code in the mobile app.
• Scanning searches only locations you can access and does not include deleted assets. A retired asset label therefore returns No assets found for this QR code.
• If two live assets at one location share a code, scanning opens the first-created asset. The newer asset cannot be scanned.
• QR labels print only for IoT devices. Asset labels must come from elsewhere.
