Add or remove temporary outlets

This article explains how to add or remove temporary outlets in BriqSafe. It is intended for engineers and other users responsible for managing assets during site visits or building configuration.

Add a Temporary Outlet

Follow these steps to add a temporary outlet (asset) to record new equipment or temporarily installed devices on-site.

1. Open the location and drill down to the specific room or area where the outlet will be added.
2. In the mobile app, tap Add asset.
3. Select the appropriate asset type representing the temporary outlet.
4. Enter the asset name and fill out the required attributes (e.g., Asset Number).
5. Save the asset.

When an engineer creates a new asset, it enters a pending-approval state and appears immediately in the reviewer’s queue. This is automatic, and there is no separate submit step.

Remove a Temporary Outlet

To retire or remove a temporary outlet that is no longer in service, perform the following steps:

1. Locate the asset either by browsing the Assets view under the Structures tab or by scanning its QR code using the mobile app.
2. Select the asset and choose Delete.
3. Confirm the deletion.

The deletion is soft, which means the asset is hidden from active views but its data and audit trail are preserved. Deleting an asset also cascades to remove its links to systems, linked assets, and flags any open jobs as associated with an archived asset.

Note: Only users with delete permission, such as Inspectors or above, can delete assets. Engineers will not see the delete action.

Restore a Deleted Temporary Outlet

If you delete an asset by mistake, you can restore it:

1. Use the undo toast that appears immediately after deletion to reverse the action.
2. If the toast is no longer available, an audit or admin restore may be performed depending on permissions.

Restoring an asset in draft workflow mode re-establishes system links and other connections; a plain undo may not restore these links.

Additional Considerations

• Editing an existing asset’s details or parameters recalculates compliance and generates updated technical recommendations automatically.
• You can assign a QR code to temporary outlets by entering the code in the QR Code field of the asset’s detail panel and saving the record. This allows easy lookup during future visits.
• Temporary outlets can be linked to one or more systems manually to ensure compliance activities are generated correctly.
• Soft-deleted assets will not be found when scanning their QR codes; the scan will return "Not found".
• Photos can be attached to assets to document condition or installation.
