Create and use room templates

Use a configured room as a reusable template when a floor contains several similar rooms with the same equipment. This article explains how to copy a room, choose what to include, and place the copies on another floor.

Note

Required role: Engineer

Before You Get Started

  • Set up the source room and its assets before copying it.
  • Make sure the source room has an outline on the floor plan. A copied room without an outline cannot be placed.

Copy a room as a template

Copy a configured room to reuse its layout and selected room information.

  1. Open the location's Structures tab.
  2. Select a floor to open its floor plan, then switch the plan to Edit.
  3. Select the room to copy. Hold Shift to select additional rooms.
  4. Press the copy control. For one room, its tooltip reads Copy selected room with all assets.
  5. Move to the floor where you want to place the copies and press Paste.

A staging bar shows how many copies are ready and confirms that they are not saved yet.

Choose what the room copies include

  1. On the staging bar, set Number of copies.
  2. Open What gets copied.
  3. Switch the following options on or off as needed: Assets, System links (circuit assignment), Configuration (material, type, capacity), Technical recommendations, and Photos.
  4. Press Confirm & Save.

Confirm & Save places the staged copies on the plan and saves the floor plan in one action. There is no separate Save action afterwards.

Copy assets within a room

Use asset copying when a room contains several identical items.

  1. In the floor plan's Assets mode, select the asset to repeat.
  2. Press Copy selected asset to clipboard.
  3. Select the room where the copies belong and choose Paste.
  4. Set Number of copies in the staged-paste panel.
  5. Press Confirm & Save to add the assets and save the floor plan.

Paste remains unavailable until a room is selected. Choose Discard to remove staged copies without saving them.

Important copying rules

  • Copies are placed in free space rather than on top of the original.
  • If a name ends in a number, the number increases. For example, a copy of Room 101 becomes Room 102.
  • Recorded measurements are not copied. Take readings for the equipment in each new room.
  • A copied photo is not evidence of the asset it is copied onto.
  • If several rooms are copied and one has no outline, that room is skipped while the others are placed.
  • The clipboard belongs to your browser and is emptied after 24 hours. A copy of more than 100 items or larger than 5 MB is refused.
  • A system from a different structure is not linked to the copied room, even when System links (circuit assignment) is enabled.
  • Copying is best effort. If some assets cannot retain their system links, technical recommendations, or configuration, a warning reports how many were affected after Confirm & Save.
