Close and sign off a visit

This article explains how engineers can close and sign off a visit in the BriqSafe mobile application. It covers reviewing the job summary, adding comments, providing a signature, and optionally collecting a building representative's counter-signature before submitting the visit for back-office review.

Note

Required role: Engineer

Close and Sign Off a Visit

Complete the visit by reviewing jobs, signing off, and submitting the visit.

  1. Finish or skip all jobs within the visit.
  2. Tap Close Visit on the job list to open the Close Visit screen.
  3. Go to the Sign Off tab and review the JOB SUMMARY, which lists counts for Completed jobs, Not completed, and Unable to complete jobs.
  4. Either draw your signature on the Sign here pad, or tick the confirmation checkbox labeled “I confirm that all jobs have been completed or skipped with valid reasons, and the information provided is accurate.” These two options are mutually exclusive—selecting one clears the other, and switching back provides a fresh signature pad.
  5. Optionally enter a comment about the visit in the COMMENT field. This comment can record observations or details for the back office and is limited to 2000 characters.
  6. Tap Close Visit.
  7. Confirm by tapping Sign off in the confirmation dialog that lists any still-open jobs.

The visit status then becomes Completed and syncs with the web application. Any jobs not finished or skipped will be automatically marked as skipped with an automatic reason recorded for back-office review.

Important Notes

  • The submit button remains disabled until either a signature is drawn or the confirmation checkbox is ticked.
  • Closing a visit commits any untouched jobs automatically. This action cannot be undone, so review the job summary counts carefully before submitting.
  • If no jobs are completed and all are skipped or cancelled, the visit is recorded as Skipped rather than Completed.
  • If the Close Visit screen is accessed without specifically selecting a visit and the Location has multiple active visits, it will default to the first active visit, which could result in closing the wrong visit.
  • Once signed off, the visit is locked on the worker’s device and jobs can no longer be edited there.

Collecting the Building Representative's Counter-Signature (When Enabled)

When your organisation requires a counter-signature, a Representative tab appears next to the Sign Off tab on the Close Visit screen.

  1. Open the Representative tab during sign-off.
  2. Enter the building representative’s Name and Role.
  3. Have the representative draw their signature on the signature pad.
  4. After capturing the representative’s signature, return to the Sign Off tab and complete the sign-off procedure as usual.

Important Notes About Counter-Signatures

  • The Representative tab only appears if counter-signatures are enabled for your organisation.
  • If counter-signatures are required but missing, the visit will still sign off but be flagged for review as missing the representative’s signature.
  • A valid counter-signature requires all three elements: Name, Role, and a drawn signature.

What Happens to Unfinished Jobs When Signing Off

You can sign off a visit without completing every job. Any pending jobs left open at the moment of sign-off are automatically skipped and recorded with an automatic reason for back-office review.

  1. The JOB SUMMARY warns if jobs remain untouched.
  2. At the final confirmation, a list of these pending jobs appears for review.
  3. Confirming sign-off commits these jobs as skipped.

Note that only visits with statuses Scheduled or In Progress can be signed off.

Adding Comments When Signing Off

During sign-off, you can record visit observations or notes for the back office.

  1. On the Sign Off tab, type your comment in the optional COMMENT box labeled “Add a comment about this visit...”
  2. Complete the sign-off as usual.

If the visit is recorded as Skipped due to no completed jobs, any comment you provide will become the official skip reason instead of the automatic one.
