Perform temperature checks and flushing tasks

This article explains how to perform temperature checks and flushing tasks using the app. It is intended for engineers conducting these tasks during site visits.

Note

Required role: Engineer

Perform a Temperature (Flushing) Job with a Thermometer

Take Measurement - Hot Tap screen allows users to input detailed hot water temperature data and comments for multiple pending measurement tasks, with an option to complete the job.

Use this procedure to record water temperature readings with a Bluetooth thermometer or by manual entry.

  1. Open the temperature job in the app.
  2. Tap Connect Thermometer to pair a Bluetooth thermometer, or tap Fill Temperature Manually to type readings.
  3. If using a thermometer, tap Start Measurement and run the outlet; the live temperature reading streams until it stabilises and then stops automatically.
  4. Repeat for each required reading.
  5. If required, attach an evidence photo to document the activity.
  6. Tap Complete Job when all readings are recorded.

Important notes:

  • The form does not display a pass or fail result; threshold breaches are evaluated later on the server and may trigger a case.
  • If there are no stop conditions defined for the activity type, the app shows Default measurement settings, and the reading uses a 2-minute timeout or manual entry.
  • If the thermometer goes out of Bluetooth range mid-measurement, previously recorded readings are saved. You can then reconnect or switch to manual data entry.

Perform a Flushing Timer Job

Use this to run an outlet for a prescribed duration using the app's timer.

  1. Open the flushing timer job in the app.
  2. Check the Prescribed flush duration displayed.
  3. Open the outlet and tap the flush-timer start button.
  4. The countdown timer runs; the Complete Job button remains disabled while the timer runs.
  5. If you leave the form for other jobs, the timer continues running in the background.
  6. When the timer reaches Flush complete, close the outlet.
  7. Tap Complete Job to finish.

Important notes:

  • You cannot complete the job before the timer finishes; the app and server block early completion.
  • The countdown continues even if you navigate away from the timer form.

Working Through a Visit Offline

The app lets you perform all jobs, including temperature checks and flushing, without connectivity.

  1. Open the visit while you are online so its data caches on your device.
  2. When offline, the app shows an offline indicator, but you can still access all entry points and forms.
  3. Bluetooth thermometers and device pairings work between devices even offline.
  4. The flushing timer runs locally on the device.
  5. Readings, photos, and status updates are queued for upload.
  6. When connectivity returns, the app automatically syncs the queued data in the background.

Important notes:

  • To ensure data completeness, always open the visit while online before going offline.
  • Allow time for photos and queued updates to upload after connectivity restores before leaving site.

Understanding the Job Execution Screen

Know how to navigate and complete job forms for temperature and flushing tasks.

  1. Open any job; the screen has two tabs: Info (location, structure, area, floor, and notes) and Actions (the job form).
  2. The form on the Actions tab is fixed by the job’s activity type and cannot be changed.
  3. Enter all required data, then tap Complete Job when finished.

Important notes:

  • A completed job can be reopened while the visit is still open.
  • If the form appears incorrect, the job may have been assigned the wrong activity type.

Completing a Job with Threshold Breaches

Complete temperature and flushing jobs normally, even if readings breach thresholds.

  1. Tap Complete Job after entering all readings and any evidence.

Important notes:

  • The app does not block completion when readings exceed thresholds; this is evaluated later by the server.
  • If a case is created due to a breach, a confirmation message appears after syncing: "Job completed. A case was created for review."
  • If completion happened offline, the confirmation and any case notifications appear only after the data syncs.
