Record temperature measurements

This article explains how to perform temperature measurements within the app using either a Bluetooth thermometer or manual entry. It is intended for engineers conducting flushing jobs that require recording water temperature readings during on-site visits.

Note

Required role: Engineer

Access the Temperature Measurement Job

To begin recording temperature measurements, open the temperature (flushing) job assigned for your visit.

  1. Open the job and navigate to the Actions tab. This tab contains the job form fixed by the activity type.
  2. If you need context about the location, switch to the Info tab to view the floor plan and details such as Structure, Floor, Room, Object, scheduled When, coverage window, and any notes.

Connect and Start Temperature Measurement

You can record temperature readings either by connecting a Bluetooth thermometer or by entering the readings manually.

  1. On the Actions tab, choose one of the following:
  2. If you connected a thermometer, tap Start Temperature Measurement to begin.
  3. The live temperature reading will stream in real time and automatically stop based on the job's stop conditions.
  4. If no stop conditions are set, the default measurement settings apply: the reading stops once it has held steady for ten seconds or after a two-minute timeout, whichever comes first.
  5. Repeat these steps for each outstanding parameter the job requires.
  6. Add an evidence photo if the form requests one.
  7. Tap Complete Job when all parameters are recorded.

Troubleshooting Common Issues During Measurement

  • If the Bluetooth thermometer disconnects mid-measurement, the readings for that parameter are discarded. Reconnect the thermometer and measure that parameter again.
  • No pass or fail indicator appears on the form, so an out-of-range reading may not be obvious on-site. The app completes the job regardless.
  • If a reading breaches control-scheme thresholds, the breach is evaluated server-side after submission. The app will confirm either "Job completed. A case was created for review." or "Job completed. A case is already open for this issue."
  • If you complete a job offline, breach confirmations and case updates appear only after the app synchronizes with the server.

Additional Notes

  • The job form is predefined and cannot be changed on-site; it is assigned when the job is scheduled or manually set during job creation.
  • Only users with Engineer role or above can submit jobs; users with Viewer role or lower can enter data but have no submission controls.
