This article explains how to set default enabled control measures when adding an asset to the asset register. It is intended for engineers managing assets in BriqSafe who want to configure control activities automatically generated for each asset.
NoteRequired role: Engineer
Adding an Asset to the Asset Register
Add an asset so it is tracked and generates the appropriate control activities for compliance.
- From the Structures tree or the floor plan editor, choose the location where you want to add the asset.
- Select Add asset and choose the asset's Asset Type.
- Fill in the asset's details, including Name, Serial Number, Manufacturer, Model, Code, and Description.
- Complete the dynamic compliance parameter form that appears for the chosen type.
- Save the asset to allow the rule engine to evaluate compliance and risk rules.
When you save, the control schema activities for this asset are generated automatically based on the asset type and parameters you provided. The rule engine also calculates risk and may create technical recommendations where applicable.
Setting the Asset’s Core Details

Ensure the asset’s identity and network location are complete after placement.
- Open the asset to its detail panel.
- In the General section, enter the required Asset Number manually.
- Optionally enter a QR Code value.
- Set the Network Position.
- Confirm the read-only Location shown.
- Review other tabs as needed: Parameters, Assessment, Linked Systems, Sensors, Linked Assets, and Cases.
- Save your changes.
Note: The Asset Number is required and must be entered manually; there are no separate fields for manufacturer, model, serial number, or installation date on the consultant web app asset form.
Linking the Asset to Systems
Associate the asset with one or more systems at the same location to ensure the correct compliance activities are generated.
- Open the asset and go to the Linked Systems section.
- Select Link system.
- Choose one or more systems available in the same location.
- Save the links.
Each system link updates the asset’s control schema activities. You can add multiple system links or remove existing ones. Attempts to link to systems at a different location are blocked.
Setting Default Control Measures Automatically

The control schema activities for an asset are generated automatically based on the asset type, compliance parameters, and its linked systems.
- There is no manual step to generate the control activities; they appear incrementally as you build the location and add or update assets.
- When you save an asset with its parameters and system links, the rule engine evaluates compliance and risk rules, creating the default control measures (activities) for that asset.
- To review or confirm the control schema, open the location’s Control Schema tab.
Because the updates happen silently, check the control schema after edits to ensure the correct activities are present.
Additional Considerations
- If you add assets during onsite visits using the mobile app, they are saved permanently and generate control activities on sync.
- When duplicating assets on the floor plan, the copy inherits type, parameters, and system links, but its QR code is cleared.
- Manual overrides to an asset’s satisfaction state can be set if the calculated state is not appropriate, but this does not affect the generation of control activities.
