Set default control measures for an asset

This article explains what happens to control activities when you add an asset. The available information does not describe a setting for choosing default enabled control measures during asset creation.

Add an asset

Add the asset using one of the supported asset-entry workflows.

From the mobile app

1. Open the location.
2. Open the header ⋯, then select Tree view.
3. Expand the structure and floor.
4. Open ⋮ for the room and select Add asset.
5. Select an asset type in Choose asset type.

The asset is created immediately and is named after its asset type. There is no details form, save step or submit step during creation. Add further details later with Edit.

From the floor plan

1. Open the floor plan and switch to Assets mode.
2. Select Add asset.
3. Select a room.
4. Select an asset type to place it in the room, or drag the type to the required position.
5. Select Save on the Unsaved changes bar.

Until you select Save, the placed asset remains a draft and does not appear in the Assets list.

How control activities are generated

1. Add the asset to the required structure, floor or room.
2. Open the location and select Control Schema to review the activities generated for its assets, systems and areas.

The rules engine evaluates the asset and adds the resulting activities. There is no manual generate button. Generation is queued and runs in batches, so reload Control Schema after a change before concluding that no activities were generated.

Review the generated activities

1. Open the location and select Control Schema.
2. Group or sort the activity types using the available controls, such as Activity category, Activity type, Frequency, Activity name or Status.
3. Select an activity type to view its activities and their statuses.

An activity with Activity enabled switched off remains listed but is greyed out, has no status badge and generates no jobs. The available information does not describe how to set this state as a default while adding an asset.

Important limitations

• Adding, moving, updating or deleting an asset can cause the rules engine to add or remove mandatory activities.
• Linking an asset to a system does not immediately rerun the rules. It flags the location for the next nightly Plan health check, and dependent activities follow at the asset's next rule evaluation or when a visit is scheduled.
• If no control regime resolves for the asset through its area and structure, no activities are generated.
