Archive a structure

This article explains how to archive a structure in BriqSafe to remove it from your active building list without deleting its data. It is intended for users managing location structures who want to keep the data intact while hiding the structure from active use.

Note

Required role: Admin or higher

Archiving a Structure

Structures screen in the Residencial Serrano location allows managing building structures, with key actions including adding a new structure and editing or viewing details of existing ones via a dropdown menu.

Archiving a structure removes it from your active building list but preserves all associated data. This differs from deleting, which permanently removes a structure and its related areas and assets after confirmation.

  1. Open the location that contains the structure you want to archive.
  2. Go to the Structures tab to see the list of buildings within the location.
  3. Find the structure in the list.
  4. Use the Archive action available next to the structure’s editable details or from the structure’s overview options.
  5. Confirm the archiving action in the dialog that appears.

Once archived, the structure will no longer appear in your active building list but all underlying data such as areas, assets, and compliance information remains preserved and accessible if unarchived later.

Difference Between Archiving and Deleting a Structure

ActionEffect on StructureData PreservationImpact on Areas and AssetsUser Confirmation
ArchiveRemoves structure from active listsData preserved and retainedAreas and assets remain intactConfirmation required
DeleteRemoves structure from system (soft delete)Data is preserved but hiddenDeletes areas and assets within structure after warningConfirmation with cascade warning required

Important Considerations

  • Only users with the appropriate Admin or higher role can archive or delete a structure. Inspectors and Managers may not have access to these actions.
  • Deleting a structure permanently removes all contained areas and assets after a confirmation warning, while archiving safely preserves all data.
  • Archiving helps when a building is no longer active but you want to retain historical information without cluttering your active lists.
  • The archive and delete options are found alongside the structure’s editable details on the Structures tab of a location.

If you need to restore a structure after archiving, you can unarchive it from the location’s Structures tab.
