Change your email address

This article explains how to change the email address associated with your BriqSafe account. It is intended for all users who need to update their login email.

Important information about changing your email

Changing your email address is managed through BriqSafe's hosted sign-in service, not directly within the BriqSafe application. Because of this architecture, the process involves updating your authentication details via the identity provider's screens embedded in the account security settings.

How to change your email address

BriqSafe does not provide an in-app option to directly change your registered email address after sign-up. Instead, if you want to use a different email to sign in, you generally need to create a new account using that email and transfer your access or organisation membership accordingly. Here is the guidance based on BriqSafe’s existing processes:

  1. If you have not already, sign up for a new BriqSafe account with the new email address by going to the hosted sign-in screen and choosing Sign up. Follow the sign-up flow and verify your email through the confirmation link.
  2. If you are invited to your organisation with the new email, accept the invite to join your existing organisation workspace.
  3. If you want to access your data from your old account, request your organisation administrator or your legionella advisory bureau to assist with your account migration or access changes, since users cannot merge accounts themselves.

Because of the sign-in service model, login credentials (including email address) are managed externally and cannot be edited within BriqSafe. For security reasons, the email used at account creation remains tied to that account.

Alternative approach: Using social login with a different email

If you prefer, you may use a social sign-in provider (Google, Apple, or Microsoft) that is associated with your new email address:

  1. On the hosted sign-in page, select the social login option corresponding to your new email.
  2. If that social email matches an existing BriqSafe account, you will be signed in automatically.
  3. If the social email is not in BriqSafe, a new account will be created.

This method can simplify switching email addresses if you use a social provider linked to your preferred email.

To review or manage your password and multi-factor authentication (MFA) settings associated with your account—though not your email address—use the following steps:

  1. Open Account Settings in the sidebar.
  2. Go to My Settings > Security tab.
  3. Manage your password or enrol multi-factor authentication using the embedded hosted sign-in security widget.

Note that these security settings do not allow changing the email address itself, only authentication factors tied to your existing account.

Summary

Changing the email address registered to your BriqSafe account is not supported within the application. To use a new email, sign up for a new account and work with your organisation administrator to gain access to your organisation via that new account.

Always verify your email addresses during sign-up and use social login providers if appropriate to ease management.
