Use an asset's Parameters section to record measurements and its History tab to review parameter, schedule and control schema changes. The history records the change summary, who made the change, when it happened and, when provided, why it was made.
Edit asset parameters
- Open Assets and select an asset.
- Open Parameters. The available fields come from the asset type.
- Enter or update the parameter values. A value that breaks a risk rule receives a yellow outline and an issue counter while you type, before you save.
- Select the issue counter to open Compliance issue. Review each rule that fired, its risk level and its legal explanation.
- Select Save.
- In Record why this changed, enter an optional Reason for change, then select Save. Select Cancel to abandon the save.
The values are submitted first and the compliance rules then run again. A confirmation message counts any new Technical Recommendations. This count is not shown when an Engineer saves an already-approved asset.
A field without an issue counter is not a pass result. It only means that no risk rule fired for the value entered.
Approval and editing restrictions
An Inspector or a user with equivalent approval rights writes changes directly to the asset. Without approval rights, the edit is stored as a pending modification and the asset returns to pending approval until a reviewer accepts it. An asset that is waiting for approval cannot be edited by anyone until it is approved or rejected.
If you change the asset type, parameter values that the new type does not have are cleared automatically. They no longer appear in Parameters or in rule evaluation, but their history is kept. Set the correct asset type before recording readings.
Review an asset's history
- Open an asset from a structure.
- Open the asset's History tab. The tab opens on Change history.
- Use Category, Start Date and End Date to filter the events.
- Select an event row to open its details. Use the back control to return to the list, or the previous and next controls to move between loaded events.
- Select Load More when older events are needed.
Events are shown newest first. The feed records updates, deletion, system assignment or removal, control schema changes, parameter changes, IoT device links or removals, and cases raised on the asset. Each row shows the action, a change summary when available, the first target's name, the time, a status badge and the actor's initials.
Read the change record
Open an event to review its recorded change details. Where available, the change information shows the previous value and the new value. The event also identifies the person or process that performed it and when it happened. If a reason was entered during the save, it is included in the event details; if no reason was entered, the event has no user-provided reason.
The history is system-generated. It records changes rather than general notes, and it does not include the asset's creation event.
When a change affects the control scheme
Editing parameters that drive the asset's rules can add or remove mandatory activities in the background. The rules run again after the parameter values are saved, and the asset's activity changes are reflected in the control scheme.
Control schema changes are recorded in the asset's history. These merges are silent: nobody is notified and nothing is flagged for acknowledgement. Re-read the location's Control Schema after a parameter change if you need to check which activities now apply.
Show the full record to an inspector
- Open the asset and select the History tab.
- Set the relevant Category, Start Date and End Date filters.
- Select Load More until the required period is loaded.
- Open each relevant event so the inspector can review the change details, previous and new values, actor, time and recorded reason.
The history is read-only. Rows cannot be selected for bulk actions, but an event can be opened individually for review.
