Start a risk assessment

Use this procedure to schedule a new risk assessment for a location and select the correct assessment activity type.

Before You Get Started

The location must already be configured with its structures, areas, systems and assets, and have an active control regime.
One risk assessment covers one location only.

Open the location and select Structures.
On a structure card, select Create risk assessment. If the structure already has assessments, open the Risk Assessment dropdown and select Create new risk assessment.
In the Create Visit panel, confirm the location and risk assessment activity. These fields are locked.
Enter the required Date. Select Assignees, or choose Leave unassigned. Set Requires back-office review and review the pre-filled Visit name.
Under Scope, select Choose location, then select the structures, areas or systems to include.
Select Add job, then select Create visit.

The panel closes and you remain on Structures. The location's control regime determines the assessment sections, forms and risk thresholds.

Activity type names are seeded for your organisation and jurisdiction, so the available name may differ.

Inspectors and Engineers may see Create risk assessment because they can create jobs, but the platform refuses the request when they select Create visit.
Fieldwork can be assigned to an Engineer.
Items already covered by another active risk assessment appear greyed out in the scope picker and cannot be selected. Finish the other assessment or remove the item from its scope before selecting it.
