Location not visible in the app

This article explains the common reasons why a location may not be visible in the BriqSafe app and how users with the appropriate permissions can verify and update location details to ensure correct display.

Understanding Location Visibility in BriqSafe

If you notice a location missing from the app's map or list views, it is often due to missing or incorrect geocoded data or access permissions. Locations without valid map coordinates do not appear on the map, and user permissions restrict which locations are shown to each account.

Verify and Edit Location Details

Ensure that the location’s address and coordinates are correctly entered and updated to appear properly in the app.

  1. Open the desired location and go to its Overview tab.
  2. Edit the location’s name, address, and coordinates as necessary to correct any errors or omissions. You can also update availability here.
  3. Save your changes to update the location record.

Note: Changing the address affects the location’s map coordinates, which are essential for it to appear on the map.

Check Your Access Permissions

Locations visible in the app depend on your account permissions:

  • The home screen and map views filter locations to only show those your account can access within your organisation.
  • External users see only locations and activities they have been explicitly granted access to during their invitation setup.
  • If your permissions are restricted or fail to load properly, the app displays an inline error with a retry option rather than an empty screen.

Access Locations from the Map View

To confirm a location is visible and accessible:

  1. On the web, open the My BriqSafe home screen in a desktop browser to view the locations map in the right column (note that the map is not shown on tablet or mobile widths).
  2. Click a location’s map pin to open the location’s detail page directly.
  3. On mobile, tap a map pin to see its summary card with basic information, then follow the link to the location’s detail page.

Note: Locations without geocoded addresses do not appear on maps.

Additional Considerations

  • Locations inherit their jurisdiction from the organisation, not from the address entered.
  • Manually entered addresses bypass automatic geocoding, so such locations will not appear on the map until geocoded coordinates are added.
  • Deleting or archiving locations is a higher-privilege action than editing details and may not be available to all users who can edit location information.
