Edit an asset questionnaire

This article explains how to edit asset questionnaires within BriqSafe, including managing their visibility and making questions mandatory. It is intended for engineers and inspectors working with asset compliance and risk assessments.

Edit an Asset Questionnaire

You can update an asset questionnaire to record compliance parameters and confirm whether an asset meets its requirements. The questionnaire varies dynamically based on the asset type.

1. From Things to do, open the Assets tile and select the asset whose questionnaire you want to edit. Assets are listed under their respective areas.
2. Open the Parameters section. Enter or update values in the dynamic form that corresponds to the asset type.
3. Each parameter row shows the entered value and a badge indicating satisfactory or unsatisfactory status. Values outside the acceptable range flag the parameter as unsatisfactory.
4. After entering parameters, the system automatically assesses the asset's overall satisfactory state, reflected by badges and the assessment toggle in the Assessment section.
5. If needed, you can manually override the automatically calculated satisfactory or unsatisfactory state by toggling the assessment button in the Assessment section. When the manual status differs from the calculated one, a banner confirms the override. Save the assessment by selecting Confirm assessment.

Note: The assessment toggle is disabled until the asset has at least one saved set of parameters, which enables the automatic evaluation.

Make Asset Questionnaire Questions Visible, Invisible, or Mandatory

Visibility and mandatory settings for asset questionnaire items depend on the asset type and configured compliance parameters. You control which questions appear and whether answers are required by:

• Setting the asset type, which determines the active parameters and related questionnaire questions. Changing the asset type after entering parameters can invalidate existing data.
• Completing or clearing inherited values in the asset's parameter form to trigger visibility of related questions.
• Using the Logbook & Activities stage within the risk assessment to manage compliance activity questions, where asset-type categories control which questions are shown.

The system automatically generates compliance questions per asset-type category based on default activities from the location’s compliance rules. Each compliance activity and its frequency generates a question under that category.

Questions are not generated for activities added through technical recommendations, cases, or custom additions.

Within the Logbook & Activities stage:

1. Open the risk assessment and select the Logbook & Activities stage.
2. Select an asset-type category from the list.
3. Switch to the Activities tab to view the compliance questions for that category. Each question corresponds to a specific activity type and frequency.
4. For each question, select Yes or No to record if the activity has been carried out as required. Optionally, add comments using the comment icon.
5. Save answers for each asset-type category before switching to another to avoid loss of unsaved data.
6. After completing all categories, use Mark as done to finalize the stage.

Additional Considerations

Aspect	Description
Parameter Form Dependency	The questionnaire and parameters shown depend on the asset type. Changing the asset type after data entry can invalidate entered parameters.
Activity Questions Source	Only default activities from the location's compliance rules generate questions. Activities from technical recommendations or custom additions do not.
Auto-Answered Questions	Questions with matching completed jobs are auto-answered Yes and flagged with an Auto badge; answers can be overridden manually.
Saving Permissions	Answering questions requires job-edit access; saving requires risk-assessment edit access.
Assessment Override	You can manually override the system’s automatic satisfactory/unsatisfactory evaluation per asset. Once overridden, the toggle is binary and cannot be cleared back to no status.
