Override automatic compliance evaluations

Use this procedure when your professional assessment differs from the automatically calculated Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory result for an area, asset, or system.

Before You Get Started

• Complete and save the required fields or parameters first. In an enforcing control regime, the assessment control remains disabled until the object has been assessed once.
• Read-only users cannot change the assessment.

Override an assessment

1. Open the area, asset, or system from the risk assessment.
2. Open the Assessment section. For an area, use the Status section if that is where the control is shown.
3. Confirm that all required fields or parameters are complete. The text below the control shows Automatically calculated or Manually set.
4. Select Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory.
5. Save the change. Select Confirm assessment when all required fields are complete; otherwise select Save changes or Save.

After saving, the banner The generated assessment has been manually overridden appears. The automatically calculated value is retained for the audit trail.

Return to automatic evaluation

1. Open the object's Assessment or Status section.
2. Deselect the manually selected status.
3. Save the change.

The message Status will be automatically recalculated on save indicates that the object will return to automatic evaluation. After saving, the manual override is cleared.

Where to find the assessment control

• For an asset, open it from the risk assessment's Assets list or while reviewing a visit. The asset then includes an Assessment section.
• An asset opened from the floor plan or from the structure's Assets list does not include an Assessment section. Saving there can update the parameters and the automatic result, but it does not set or clear a manual status.
• For a system, open the system from the assessment's Systems stage and use its Assessment section.
• For an area, open its Status section and select the required status after the area has been saved with its required parameters.

Important status behaviour

• Until you save, an unsaved-changes message appears instead of the override banner.
• A manually selected status can be cleared by deselecting it and saving. The object then returns to automatic evaluation.
• A status that was saved as automatically calculated cannot be cleared; it remains Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory based on the automatic evaluation.
• Automatic Satisfactory means that no risk rule reported a violation. It does not mean that the object was checked and passed. This result can also occur when no rule in force applies to the recorded parameters.
• An object that nobody has assessed shows To Review, regardless of its readings.
• An area also shows unsatisfactory when the roll-up beneath it is non-compliant, unless the area's status was set manually.
