The difference between PPCL and PSL

This article explains the difference between the PPCL and PSL reports and guides how to choose between them when preparing Legionella prevention and control plans in Spain.

Understanding PPCL and PSL Reports

Both PPCL and PSL are formal compliance reports generated within the BriqSafe application. They represent two types of Legionella prevention and control plans used in Spain, each aligned with a specific control regime configured for a location.

Choosing Between a PPCL and a PSL

The report type that appears when generating a risk assessment report depends entirely on the location’s configured control regime. BriqSafe does not allow manual selection or switching between PPCL and PSL; the report type is fixed to the regime assigned to the location and is automatically shown as either:

• PPCL — Plan de Prevención y Control de Legionella
• PSL — Plan Sanitario de Legionella

This regime assignment is driven by factors such as the facility type and the structure within the location.

Key Considerations When Working with PPCL or PSL

• Control regime enforcement: A risk assessment must cover only one control regime. Attempting to include structures or areas from different regimes in the same assessment is prevented by the system.
• Risk assessment scope: The scope of the risk assessment determines which structures, areas, systems, and assets are included. Since a risk assessment is tied to a single regime, the report type is consistent across the selected scope.
• Report generation: To generate a PPCL or PSL report, select the appropriate completed risk assessment linked to the location’s regime. The report cannot be generated without a completed risk assessment present.
• Report content and scope: The PPCL or PSL report covers the entire scope defined in the underlying risk assessment and does not support filtering by individual structures, areas, or assets during generation.

Generating the PPCL or PSL Report

Once your risk assessment data are gathered and the risk conclusion is written, follow these steps to produce the compliance report:

1. Open the risk assessment.
2. Go to the Generate Report section.
3. Confirm that the Report Type shows either PPCL — Plan de Prevención y Control de Legionella or PSL — Plan Sanitario de Legionella . This is pre-filled and locked based on the location’s control regime.
4. Optionally select a Report Preset or accept the default configuration.
5. Select Generate Report to start report processing.
6. Wait until the report status changes from Processing to Ready .

You can regenerate the report if your assessment data changes or you want a version with a different preset.

Delivering the Report

After generation, the report is saved automatically in the Documents library for the organisation. To share it:

1. When the report status shows Ready , select Download to save a local PDF copy.
2. Or, open the report from the Documents page and select Share to email the report within your organisation.

Emails contain a secure download link valid for 24 hours. External email addresses cannot be added, only users within your organisation.
