Backflow prevention

This article explains how to set up backflow prevention jobs, schedule them, perform them during a visit, and close the visit in BriqSafe.

Before You Get Started

The location must have an enabled activity in its Control Schema. A scheduled activity creates jobs according to the activity type and frequency configured for the location.

Set up the activity

Note

Required role: Inspector or above to add a custom activity. Manager or above to schedule visits.

Add a custom activity when the required backflow prevention work is not already generated by the location's rules.

  1. Open the location's Control Schema.
  2. Select Add activity.
  3. Choose the activity type used for the backflow prevention work.
  4. Under Applies to, select Select locations or assets.
  5. In Choose location, select the required structures, areas, systems, or assets, then confirm with the tick button.
  6. Set the Frequency.
  7. Select Save.

The activity is saved with status To do and is ready for scheduling. With Assets enabled under Selection level, selecting a building or floor also adds every asset below it as a separate activity.

Schedule backflow prevention jobs

Note

Required role: Manager or above.

Schedule the work as a single activity or as part of a visit template.

Schedule one activity

  1. Open Scheduler and select Plan visit.
  2. Expand Free Activities.
  3. Drag the required activity onto the day of the visit.
  4. In New Visit, set the Location, Date, and start and end times.
  5. Select the Assignees.
  6. Select Schedule.

Schedule a template visit

  1. Open Scheduler and select Plan visit.
  2. Drag the required template from the Planning sidebar onto a day.
  3. In New Visit, set the location, date, times, and Assignees.
  4. Adjust the job quantity for the activity under Jobs by Activity.
  5. Select Schedule.

To add a specific asset to the visit, select Add job, choose the activity, select Choose location, and add the asset in the Ready to add card before scheduling.

Schedule remains disabled until a location, date, and at least one assignee are selected. If you enter times, both a start and end time are required, and the end time must be later than the start time.

Perform a backflow prevention job

Note

Required role: Engineer or above to submit job results.

  1. Open the visit and select the job from the job list.
  2. Use the Actions tab to complete the form defined by the activity type. Use the Info tab to view the location, asset, due date, completion window, coverage period, and notes.
  3. Enter every required value or answer in the form.
  4. Add an evidence photo if the form requests one.
  5. Select Complete Job.

The job form is fixed by its activity type. If the job contains temperature parameters, select Connect to pair a Bluetooth thermometer, or select Enter manually when manual entry is available. Then select Start Temperature Measurement, take the reading, select Done, and repeat for each outstanding parameter.

If the job is a chemical test, enter each parameter value or select a predefined option where available, then select Done. Empty or invalid required fields are rejected when you try to finish the job.

If the job has a prescribed flushing duration, open the outlet and select the flush-timer start button. Wait until Flush complete appears, close the outlet, and select Complete Job. The button remains disabled while the timer runs.

Handle a job that cannot be completed

  1. Open the visit and select the job's asset or room card.
  2. Expand the job if it is folded.
  3. Select Can't complete. Timed jobs use Unable to Complete.
  4. Enter at least three characters in Reason.
  5. Optionally add an Evidence photo.
  6. For an asset-linked job, select The asset is not present at this location only when the asset has really been removed.
  7. Select Submit.

The job is recorded as skipped and shows Marked can't complete. If the asset-not-present option is used, the asset and its linked activities may be deleted or marked for deletion depending on your role.

Work offline

The visit list, job list, job forms, thermometer pairing, flushing timer, and photo capture continue to work without a connection. Completed, skipped, and reopened job changes are saved on the device and sync when the connection returns. Photos are placed in an upload queue.

Embedded web pages do not work offline. Open the required visit and job data while connected, and wait for queued photos to upload after reconnecting.

Close and sign off the visit

  1. From the visit job list, select Close Visit.
  2. Review the JOB SUMMARY, including Completed jobs, Not completed, and Unable to complete.
  3. Optionally enter a comment in the comment field.
  4. On the Sign Off tab, draw on Sign here or select the confirmation box.
  5. Select Close Visit.
  6. If jobs are still open, review the confirmation and select Sign off.

A signature and the confirmation box are mutually exclusive. Any job left open is skipped automatically at sign-off and cannot be restored from the visit. A visit with no completed jobs is recorded as Skipped, not Completed.

Find jobs during a visit

  1. Open the job list and select the filter icon.
  2. In Filters, narrow the list by Activity type or Status.
  3. Use statuses such as Open, Completed, Overdue, or Skipped as needed.
  4. Select Apply. To remove all filters, select Clear all.
  5. To find one job by name, select the search icon and enter the name in Search jobs....

Not performed and Building closed are set by the system. They identify work that can no longer be acted on during that completion window.
