This article explains how to close a case in BriqSafe and optionally add a closing note to record the resolution details for the audit trail. It is intended for managers responsible for resolving cases.
NoteRequired role: Owner, Admin, or Manager
Closing a Case with Resolution Notes

Use this procedure to mark a case as resolved and document how it was closed.
- Open the case from the Cases list.
- Click Close Case either from the actions menu or from the status footer at the bottom of the case detail.
- In the Close Case dialog, optionally enter a Closing Note to describe how the case was resolved.
- Review any suggested follow-up activities shown. Tick the checkboxes next to any activities you want to approve and add into the control schema.
- Click Close Case to confirm.
The case status will change to Closed, and the system will record who closed the case and when in the audit trail.
Important Details When Closing Cases
- Only Owners, Admins, and Managers have permission to close cases. Engineers cannot close cases even if they can edit them.
- The Closing Note is optional and does not have to be entered for the case to be closed.
- You can close a case directly from Open status if no follow-up work is needed, or from To Review when remediation is complete.
- Approving suggested follow-up activities during closing adds them to the control schema for scheduling and tracking.
- A case that is already Closed cannot be closed again unless it is reopened first.
Reopening a Closed Case
If the issue was not fully addressed, you can reopen a closed case to continue working on it.
- Open the closed case from the Cases list.
- In the case detail footer, click Reopen to change the status back to Open.
- Only Owners, Admins, and Managers can reopen cases.
- While a case is closed, editing, assigning, and follow-up actions are hidden until it is reopened.
