This article explains how to collect a sample, enter laboratory results, and find the resulting compliance information in BriqSafe.
Before You Get Started
A laboratory results entry job is created only when the sampling activity has a linked lab-results activity. If no activity is linked, completing the sampling job does not create a follow-up job.
Collect a sample
NoteRequired role: Engineer
- In the Visit's job list, tap the water outlet's card.
- On the outlet screen, open the sample collection job. Each job due on the outlet appears as a foldable card, and the first unfinished job opens automatically.
- Tap the sample collection job's card if it is folded.
- Open the Actions tab.
- Enter every value requested by the form and attach the required photos.
- Type the sample identifier by hand and check it carefully.
- Tap Done on the job card, next to Can't complete.
The sample identifier has no barcode field. The in-app scanner reads Asset and device QR codes, not sample labels. If a required field is empty or invalid, Done can still be tapped, but completion is rejected with: Some fields are missing or invalid. Check the form and try again.
Find the laboratory results entry job
When a signed-in user completes the sampling job in BriqSafe, the linked laboratory results entry job is created automatically. It uses the same Location and scope, is assigned to that Location's owners, admins, and managers, and is due two months after the sampling job's due date.
- Open the Actions page.
- Click the Lab results pending card.
- For the required item, click Enter results.
The values are stored on the laboratory results entry job. There is no separate laboratory record. The Lab results pending card lists only entry jobs still waiting for values, so a completed entry job is removed from the list.
If the entry job was created more than 30 days ago, select Filters, then Date, and choose a longer period. The Actions page normally shows the last 30 days. Sensor auto-completion and jobs signed off by an external signer through a shared signing link do not create the follow-up job.
Enter returned laboratory values
NoteRequired role: Manager. Laboratory results entry jobs are assigned automatically to the Location's owners, admins, and managers.
- On the web app, open Actions.
- Open the Lab results pending card.
- Click Enter results for the relevant item.
- On the job's Actions tab, enter a measured value for every parameter defined by the activity and answer its other fields.
- Add any Notes.
- Click Complete Job.
Completion starts the compliance evaluation. Empty laboratory value fields are not checked: a blank value is not recorded, but the job can still complete. Check every value before selecting Complete Job. The fields depend on the activity defined for the compliance regime, so they can differ between regimes.
This is a web-app task. The mobile Actions laboratory-results card is marked Soon and does not open a form. If an Engineer selects Enter results, BriqSafe opens the Location's Jobs page instead of the entry form because the job is assigned to the Location's owners, admins, and managers.
Understand cases raised by laboratory values
Each time readings are saved, BriqSafe checks the values against the norms bound to their parameters. A value outside its applicable norm can raise a Case automatically; no manual Case step is required. A parameter with no bound norm is stored but is not graded and does not raise a Case or notification.
After completing the job, the message may say:
- Job completed. A case was created for review.
- Job completed. A case is already open for this issue.
- Job completed.
A plain Job completed message does not prove that no Case was raised. Open the Location's Cases tab to check. When a Visit still needs review, Cases raised from laboratory values wait for that review and use the reviewed values. A value corrected to passing or deleted during review raises none of those Cases.
Generate a laboratory results report
- Open Documents and select Generate Report.
- Set Report Type to Lab Results.
- In Site, select the required Location.
- In Lab results entry job, select a completed laboratory results entry job.
- Click Generate Report.
The job picker lists only completed laboratory results entry jobs at the selected Location that are linked to a parent sample-taking job. If none qualify, it shows No completed lab results jobs for this site. The Report Preset field may still appear, but it is ignored for this report. Only the selected job and language are sent.
