Technical recommendations

This article explains how technical recommendations are created, reviewed, scheduled, completed, and closed in BriqSafe. It is intended for users who record asset readings, review recommendations, or plan follow-up work.

Note

An active Risk Assessment is required for a sensor breach to create a draft Technical Recommendation. Without one, the risk score still updates but no recommendation is created.

Record asset parameters

Enter an asset's measured values to check whether they trigger a risk rule.

  1. Open Assets and select an asset.
  2. Open Parameters and enter the values. The fields come from the asset type.
  3. If a value breaks a risk rule, the field receives a yellow outline and an issue counter appears while you type.
  4. Select the issue counter to open Compliance issue. Review each fired rule, its risk level, and its legal explanation.
  5. Select Save.
  6. In Record why this changed, optionally enter a Reason for change, then select Save. Select Cancel to abandon the save.

The values are submitted before the compliance rules run again. A notification counts new Technical Recommendations, except when an Engineer saves an already-approved asset.

Important: A field without an issue counter is not a pass mark; it only means that no risk rule fired for the value entered. Set the asset type before recording readings. Changing the type hides values that the new type does not contain, removes them from rule evaluation, and clears them from the current Parameters form, although their history remains.

Review automatically raised drafts

During a risk assessment, a reading that crosses a control-regime threshold can create a draft recommendation.

  1. Open the risk assessment.
  2. Open Assets, select the asset, and open its Recommendations tab.
  3. Review drafts under Drafts (auto-generated). Each has an Auto-generated label.
  4. Open a draft and review its Problem, Solution, Priority, and the Triggered by panel.

An auto-generated draft is only a proposal. The Auto-generated label shows that a rule is linked to the recommendation; it does not show who created it or whether it is approved. A draft can be withdrawn if a later reading no longer matches the rule. Approved recommendations are not withdrawn.

Review a sensor-generated draft

  1. Open the location and select Recommendations.
  2. Open Filters, set Status to Needs Approval, and select Apply Filters.
  3. Select the sensor-generated draft.
  4. With edit access, edit Problem, Solution, Priority, Suggested activities, or Attachments as required.
  5. Select Update & review to approve it, or select Dismiss, enter a reason of at least 10 characters, and select Dismiss.

Sensor breaches create draft Technical Recommendations only. They do not create a Case or escalate automatically. The list opens on Approved, so new drafts remain hidden until you filter for Needs Approval.

Approve or dismiss a draft

Note

Recommendation-edit access is required to approve or dismiss a draft. Without it, the review panel is read-only. Approval and dismissal are available on the web; mobile users can read and add recommendations but cannot review them.

  1. Open Locations and select Recommendations.
  2. Under Filters, set Status to Needs Approval, then select Apply Filters.
  3. Select the draft. Review or edit Problem, Solution, Priority, Suggested activities, and Attachments.
  4. Select Update & review to save the edits and set the status to Approved. If no edits are needed, select Update & review without changing the draft.
  5. To discard it instead, select Dismiss, enter a reason of at least 10 characters, and confirm.

Problem and Solution are required. Suggested activities are optional, but an approved recommendation without them cannot close automatically. Recommendations scoped to a Structure or the whole Location do not offer Suggested activities.

Add a custom recommendation

Use a custom recommendation when you identify an issue that automatic rules did not raise.

  1. In the risk assessment, open Technical Recommendations and select Add recommendation.
  2. In New Recommendation, choose an Entity Type: Site, Structures, Areas, Systems, or Assets.
  3. Unless you selected Site, select the Entity.
  4. For an Area, System, or Asset, optionally select Linked parameters and add Suggested activities.
  5. Enter Problem and Solution, set Priority, optionally add evidence under Attachments, and select Create.

A custom recommendation is created as Approved, not as a draft. Its entity cannot be changed later. Recommendations for a Site or Structure have no suggested activities and cannot close automatically.

Schedule approved corrective work

Note

Scheduling requires scheduling access. An Inspector may approve a recommendation but cannot schedule its work.

  1. Approve the recommendation. Its suggested activities are added to the Control Schema at their configured frequency.
  2. Open Scheduler and select To plan.
  3. Select the follow-up card marked One-time.
  4. In New Visit, check the prefilled Location and Date. Adjust From and Until if required.
  5. Set Needs review, confirm the required Assignees, and select Schedule.

Approving does not schedule the work. Structure- and Location-scoped recommendations keep their suggested activities but do not reach the Control Schema or the planner.

Complete and close a recommendation

  1. Open the follow-up job from the visit's job list.
  2. On the Actions tab, complete the activity form and attach any requested photo.
  3. Select Complete Job.

An approved recommendation closes automatically when every suggested activity has a completed job. Partial completion does not close it. A recommendation with no suggested activities must be closed by hand.

Close it by hand

  1. On the asset's Recommendations tab, open the approved recommendation and select Complete.
  2. In Close recommendation?, optionally enter Verification notes (optional).
  3. Select Close recommendation. If no completed work is linked, select Close anyway to force the closure.

A forced close is recorded in the audit trail. Closed recommendations no longer appear under Drafts (auto-generated) or Approved; check the asset's History tab under Recommendations.

Delete a recommendation

Note

Deletion requires Manager access. Draft recommendations cannot be deleted; they must be dismissed.

  1. Open the recommendation and select Delete at the bottom of its detail panel, or open the More options menu on an Asset, Area, or System recommendation and select Delete.
  2. Confirm with Delete in the Delete Recommendation dialog.

Deletion is a soft delete and is recorded in the audit trail. If it fails, the dialog remains open and the message Could not delete. Try again. appears.
